Grown Up Gigs recording with illustrator writer Summer Pierre is here (with genius gems a plenty) - When I Grow Up

Grown Up Gigs recording with illustrator writer Summer Pierre is here (with genius gems a plenty) - When I Grow Up I loved talking to  Summer Pierre  so much that, when the conversation was over, I started the recording and listened all over again. As an artist and writer, she made me swoon when I read  The Artist in the Office  back in 10and then promptly recommended it to everyone I know (and  still do!). Since then, she released  Great Gals: Inspired Ideas for Living a Kick-Ass Life   has appeared in The Huffington Post, Hobart, Booth, Slice Magazine then some. Usually this is where I give you the lowdown on everything we spoke about and the highlights of what she shared, but she gave out so many nuggets of genius I have to just lay them all out here: Every day that Im an artist illustrator, I touch the kid that wanted to do what Im doing. (Click to tweet this gem!) Whats one small thing that I can turn towards to help me start assembling my dreams?() Its the things you assemble that makes it happen. You cant underestimate that even one other person can make things more real.  When you have someone else, youre a Conspiracy Group. Theres such freedom in committing. (Click to tweet this gem!) Your day job getting in the way of you living your dream is a misconception. Its actually helping you (with your dream) in many ways. I started calling my job My Benefactor because in many ways it allowed me to do highly creative, non-marketable work. I feel strongly about  your life as a whole picture   not just your day job and then after your day job. (Click to tweet this gem!) What feeds that abundant side of you? What makes you really happy and comfortable?  It isnt only the money. Finding your ideal day job comes from asking, What am I trying to support? (Click to tweet this gem!) Snail mail is still the most powerful tool out there.  Never underestimate the power of a postcard. (Click to tweet this gem!) We talk about having an artistic life, but thats the wrong angle. What were actually asking to do is to be a part of the arts, which is different than being an artist. As a practice, the process of putting something together physically is way more profound (than making it digital). The minute you see it in your hands, its real.
